We’re delighted to share a milestone moment: the publication of our first School Sustainability Report.
Prepared by Leaders for Sustainability Inc in partnership with Mount Lilydale Mercy College, this report supports the College’s deep commitment to stewardship of creation, care for community, and the responsible use of resources. It captures not just data and actions, but a shared story of learning, reflection, and progress.
The report is designed to support the College’s ongoing learning, planning, and continuous improvement, while also providing a transparent and meaningful way to share sustainability progress with the wider school community.
Importantly, the process of developing this report helped us further refine our MSYB Framework, which is built around four integrated learning and action pathways:
- Resilient Leadership
- Teaching and Learning
- Environmental Management and Operational Performance
- Whole School Engagement
Through this work, our focus has now expanded. We want to use the lessons learned from creating this School Sustainability Report to support other schools to do the same.
Our ultimate objective is to:
- Make sustainability reporting accessible for all schools wanting to share their journey
- Keep the process affordable and practical
- Embed reporting as a meaningful annual activity that brings whole school communities together
- And, most importantly, support continuous action and improvement across all four pathways
This first report is just the beginning—and we’re excited to see how schools across the sector can use this approach to tell their own sustainability stories, year after year.
