Webinar Celebration

Flick the Switch is a school energy reduction program organised by the Moonee Valley City Council.  As lead facilitators of the program we had to pivot during 2020 to a virtual environment and engage with teachers through online workshops and virtual coaching sessions.

Our celebration event was something new as we decided to mix things up and instead of only including participating schools, we thought we would invite sustainability teachers and practitioners from leading schools across Melbourne to share their stories and inspire local schools in their energy journeys in 2021.

We were very lucky to hear from the following leaders in wise energy management and leadership.

  • Cynthia Menon – Leader of Learning/Sustainability Leader – St Macartan’s Parish Primary School
  • Venkata Kalva – Sustainability Coordinator – Brentwood Secondary College
  • Steven Stanecki – Environmental Coordinator – Albert Park College
  • Jack Donkers – Professional Sustainability Coordinator – Beaconhills College

It was so interesting to hear about their different experiences and to ask them about what it takes to lead a school community and what tips they would give to those starting out or having difficult keeping up the momentum. Watch a video of the presentations
